Golfing Today Supports Future College Degrees
Higher Edge's 5th Annual Golf Tournament is set to be a hole in one!! Held at the beautiful Great Neck Country Club (Waterford, CT), golfers enjoy an afternoon on the course + prizes, dinner, a raffle, and 50/50. Of course, there are tons of laughs. Our mission is simple - Empower first generation limited income students to enter, succeed in and graduate from college. As the only program in Eastern CT dedicated solely to this work; Higher Edge is consistently creating a path of accessibility.

- 90% persist to their second year
- 80% graduate in 4 years
When the Higher Edge golf tournament was first held in October 2021; a group of 16 students was entering their first year of college. Of them - 9 have earned their Bachelor degree and another 4 are set to graduate in the coming months.
Many of our golfers have been involved with this event from the start. Meaning: they have literally supported students through their ENTIRE college journey!! Our students truly inspire us and the community's commitment to their dreams absolutely motivates us.
Higher Edge is a small nonprofit -3 full time team members who work collaboratively to guide 110 students annually. Our budget is a little less than $300,000. Eighty-five percent of our funding comes from grants and foundations, money that must be re-applied for each fiscal year. Nothing is guaranteed, which is why our individual donors are so important.
Together, the golf tournament has raised almost $40,000. From golfers, sponsors and donors. People who believe in our mission. Cheerleaders from the sidelines. Advocates for a college education. Allies for equal access.
The goal this year is $20,000. Money raised that will directly impact a student's dream of earning their college degree.
